In a world that is moving at an ever-faster pace and the spread of information is digital-first, podcasts are an essential way to access stories, culture, and news of all kinds. The FCP team has embraced this move toward hands-free, on-the-go information consumption.
From industry news to pop culture to all the political goings-on, here’s what we’re listening to right now:
In Caitlin’s Earbuds:
My current favorite podcast is the NPR Politics Podcast. The 20-30 minute episodes feature NPR politics reporters digesting the daily deluge of news out of the White House and Congress. I like it because it stills the robust news cycle into the need to know facts, explained in plain English. With 2-3 episodes posted per week, it serves as a great resource to keep track of the White House and Congress.
In Audrey’s Earbuds:
I always enjoy listening to the former aides to President Obama— Jon Favreau, Dan Pfeiffer, Jon Lovett, and Tommy Vietor —talk through the current events on Pod Save America. This political podcast has no filter and manages to cover all of the challenges posed by the Trump presidency while somehow making you laugh.
In Dan’s Earbuds:
I love this podcast “Good One: A Podcast About Jokes”, which speaks with individual comics to break down their jokes. In this episode, the host interviews David Litt, one of the architects of many of Obama’s big (and funny) speeches, including the epic “Angry Obama” skit at the 2015 White House Correspondents’ Dinner.
In Erika’s Earbuds:
Lately I have been loving Keep It, a new(ish) podcast from the Crooked Media group that produces Pod Save America and more. Keep It bills itself as a “show about pop culture, politics, and what happens when they smack into each other at alarming speed.” I think that sums it up well. While I am no movie critic or pop culture buff, I love breaking down the ways in which the media, arts, and pop culture interact with politics and social issues. The Keep It team, composed of Ira Madison III, Kara Brown, and Louis Virtel, explore these intersections adeptly with perspective and humor.
In Sean’s Earbuds:
I have two favorite podcasts that I listen to regularly. NPR’s Planet Money is a fantastic look at anything tangentially related to economics. Short, 20-minute episodes released thrice weekly cover a wide variety of topics— ranging from an Alabama free range chicken farmer who converted his farm to a bald eagles vs. chickens tourist destination, to an episode about how shorting the stock market works.
My second favorite podcast is a serial, The Fall of Rome, by Patrick Wyman. Exploring barbarians, political breakdown, economic collapse, mass migration, pillaging, and plunder, Patrick Wyman is a PhD historian who articulates this complex and misunderstood history in plain English.

We love the depth, variety, and freshness of podcasts coming out right now. They help us to keep up to date with the news, dive deep into specific topics, learn more about the industries we navigate, and hear diverse perspectives, all through our earbuds.
